Our Mission
At WalliD, our mission is to deliver self-sovereign and digital ID 2.0 solutions that are accessible, usable, and secure for everyone. We believe in empowering organizations to embrace decentralized identity (DID), verifiable credentials, and all other W3C and eIDAS-compliant protocols without the friction and complexity typically associated with these technologies. Our goal is to abstract the intricacies of blockchain, cryptography, and digital wallets, allowing organizations to seamlessly issue, verify, and manage digital identities while maintaining full control over their data. With WalliD, Digital ID becomes an easy-to-use, scalable solution for all.
Current Problems with the Digital ID Landscape
Despite the regulatory frameworks such as eIDAS 2 in Europe, ISO standards for digital driving licenses, PDA-1 for social security, and the W3C verifiable credential standards being well-established in regions like Europe, the US, and Canada, adoption remains low. The global potential of Digital ID technologies is immense—ensuring data authenticity, reducing fraud costs, and strengthening existing certification authorities with improved cryptography and distribution.
However, the challenge lies in the fact that these solutions have been designed far removed from the actual organizations and users. They require organizations to manage complex processes such as handling blockchain transactions, launching smart contracts, and managing wallet keys. For users, adoption is hindered by the requirement of managing wallets and navigating unfamiliar tools, creating significant friction.
At WalliD, we remove these barriers by abstracting the complexity of decentralized identity and verifiable credentials. Our platform operates as a layer on top of established DID protocols and digital identity standards, managing wallets, keys, and transactions on behalf of organizations and users.
